  1. Colorado Man Sentenced to 19 Years for Enticing a Minor: On January 27, Nathan L. Kempter, 33, of Littleton, CO, was sentenced to 19 years in prison for enticement of a minor & travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct. He was previously found guilty by a jury. After his release from prison, he will begin a 12-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system. Kempter will also be required to register as a sex offender. This case was investigated by the Lincoln Police, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI in Omaha.
  2. On Friday Felipe Vazquez plead not guilty to first-degree murder of Lincoln Police investigator Luis “Mario” Herrera and six other weapon-related charges.   4. Today at 1pm Lincoln Officer Mario Herrera made his journey home from Omaha, Nebraska. The Omaha community lined the streets and over passes with people on the route that would take Officer Herrera home. Today, the Omaha people shined. A community that felt the pain of this fallen officer showed their support and showed just how much we as a community really care about the ones who protect, serve and put their lives on the line for us.   5. Sept 7, 2020 around 4 hours ago Melissa Wood posted a journal entry on Caring Bridge stating that Lincoln Police Officer Mario Herrera has passed away. It is with a very heavy heart that I have to pass on devastating news to all of you. At approximately 3:30 this morning, Mario died. Carrie and his 4 amazing children were able to be with him. I am at a loss for words as we try to process this. Please pray for Carrie, his kids and our entire family.
