    OFD releases details on fire at 136th and Polk in Omaha, Ne

     

    Fire crews were dispatched to a fire alarm of a multi-story, multi-family building.

    On approach, fire crews reported a large amount of smoke coming from the third story balcony and advanced a line. Upon further investigation a fire was located in apartment #809. Fire was contained to the area of origin.

    All occupants exited the building without injuries. One dog was found deceased during the search of the third floor.

    There were no reports of any injuries to any OFD personnel. 

    Utilities and the Humane Society were requested.

    Numerous units were rotated into the scene due to inclement weather.

    An accidental cause was determined due to careless disposal of smoking materials.

    Estimated dollar loss to the structure was at $50,000.00. Estimated dollar loss to the contents were at $15,000.00
