UPDATE 12/29/2020: The Omaha Police Department was advised by the US Marshals Service that a fugitive task force unit near Atlanta Georgia was serving a warrant for wanted homicide suspect Jaquan HAYNES in relation to the Nomi HERRERA homicide in Omaha. While serving the warrant at a residence in Atlanta, gunfire was exchanged and an individual believed to be Jaquan Haynes was struck and died of his injuries. Omaha Police Homicide Detectives are working with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations to determine the identity of the individual killed.

On Thursday, October 29th 2020 at 8:09 pm, Officers were dispatched to the area of 33rd and Weber St for a personal injury accident. Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle off the roadway. The driver of the vehicle, 19 year old Nomi HERRERA, was located in the driver's seat and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. HERRERA was transported to UNMC for treatment of life threatening injuries. The Homicide Unit is investigating.

On Friday evening, October 30th, 2020, the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Homicide Detectives have arrested a 15-year-old juvenile female for Accessory to First Degree Murder in relation to this case. The juvenile was booked into the Douglas County Youth Center.
