Update 06/08/2021: This update is to clarify information regarding the arrest of Brandon Mass. Mass was arrested for leaving the scene of an injury or death accident for striking a pedestrian during the incident.

Update 06/08/2021: With assistance from the OPD Gang Unit, officers located the suspect, 24-year-old Brandon Mass. Officers interviewed Mass, and after consulting with the Douglas County Attorney's Office, booked him at Douglas County Corrections for leaving the scene of an injury or death accident.

On Sunday, February 28, 2021 at 1:40 a.m. Omaha Police Officers patrolling in the area of 12th and Capitol Avenue heard gunfire to the east. The officers responded to 10th and Capitol and located multiple victims. It is believed that an unknown suspect fired shots during an altercation near 10th and Capitol. The gunfire struck two people. One person received minor injuries unrelated to the gunfire. Another victim was struck by a vehicle on Capitol Avenue. All victims were transported to the Nebraska Medical Center. The victim who was struck by a vehicle died at the hospital.
Suaquel Hogan, 21 years old, was struck by a vehicle and declared deceased at the hospital.
Joshua Thielen, 24 years old, sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
Kevin Leslie, 31 years old, sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
