    24th & Lake Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash, Chaz Booker charged for 2 counts of Felony Motor Vehicle Homicide

     

    UPDATE:   BOOKER was released today from UNMC and booked for 2 counts of Felony Motor Vehicle Homicide.

    On Mon 1/11/2021 at around 1pm, Northeast Precinct patrol officers were dispatched to a personal injury crash involving four vehicles at 24th and Lake. The investigation revealed that an eastbound 2015 Dodge Journey was traveling over the posted 30 mph speed limit when it violated the red light at 24th and Lake. The Dodge struck a Z-Trip taxi service 2017 Hyundai sedan which was turning under a green arrow from northbound 24th to westbound Lake. After the initial crash, the Dodge and the Hyundai struck two stopped vehicles, a 2001 Buick and a 2007 Lincoln, which were waiting to go westbound at the red light.

     

    The driver of the Dodge was identified as:

    Chaz Booker (10-20-77)
    Booker has head injury. He is in serious but stable condition.
    Charges are pending against BOOKER once he is released from the hospital.

    The driver of the Z-Trip Hyundai was identified as:
    Terrell L Lindsey (5-15-71)
    Omaha, NE
    Lindsey was transported to NE Med via Omaha Fire medics, Code 99, but died shortly after arrival.

    The unrestrained rear passenger of the Z-Trip Hyundai was identified as:
    Laron B Imani (12-24-60)
    Omaha, NE
    OFD medics declared IMANI dead at the scene. 

    Both the Buick and Lincoln were occupied but no one claimed serious injuries or were transported.

    The traffic signal controls at 24th and Lake were damaged as a result of the crash. Temporary stop signs are in place.
